A skills audit can be completed in the following way: Think about the business you wish to create List out what you think all the skills are that are needed to run it If you don’t know, go and ask someone already doing it Then compare your skills against the list and where you feel you have some gaps, consider how you might make that gap smaller – do a course, work for free, or get some volunteer experience [new_line] Would you like a weekly burst of momentum delivered straight into your in box? Learn To Love The Numbers In Your Business – Thrive! TV Tips

Learn To Love The Numbers In Your Business – Thrive! TV Tips

So many business owners I meet say ‘I hate the number’,  ‘I hate looking at my financials’ – ‘I would rather have root canal than create a profit and loss statement’. If you are running a business and you don’t review your numbers weekly, then you are not running a business, it is an expensive hobby. You must get knowledge of how your business is tracking, how much money you are bringing in, what you are spending and how much is left over. You also need to consider what your sales pipeline is – how much more money can I expect to make in the next month, the next 6 months. Getting into the detail will empower you and allow you to make better decisions. Your Action: Get the numbers out. Find your invoices, your receipts and start to bring them together and calculate how much you are really making. Or if you use a book keeper, ask them to provide you with the numbers and have a call with them, so they can take you through it. Are You A Busy Fool When It Comes To Your Business? Thrive! TV Tips

Well done, you have made it to another day and crossed everything off your to do list. Hurrah! But take a look at that to do list – how many items on that were actually tasks that would move your business forward. Grow your customer base, increase your revenue, raise your visibility. Or were they tasks that you do just to keep the business ticking over – paying bills, admin, chasing up appointments, buying supplies. If your list is made up of small tasks, then frankly you are a busy fool. If you want to really grow your business and start to make the money you are worth, you need to complete at least one activity a day that will meaningfully move your business forward and lead to growth. Feeling Lonely Since Starting Your Own Business? Go On a Voyage Of Discovery!

Feeling Lonely Since Starting Your Own Business? Go On a Voyage Of Discovery!

Research I conducted recently of 300 Corporate Crossovers, women who had left their jobs to start up their own businesses revealed an interesting fact. The thing they missed most about their jobs wasn’t the money but their workmates Creating their own business meant they were out on their own and away from the social connections that working in a traditional job has. They missed the office banter, the ability to be able to bounce ideas off someone physically close and that feeling of belonging. We are social creatures and whether or not we enjoy our jobs, we know that no matter what happens that day, there will be someone to share it with. We won’t be alone. Even when we walk to the loo, chances are we will bump into someone and exchange, at the very least, a glance and a wry smile. When I came back to London after setting up my Coaching business in Tokyo, I suffered terribly with isolation. Leaving my friends and network behind, I felt that I had no social or business friends to give me the support I needed. I felt like I didn’t belong, anywhere. During this stage, I remember visiting a client’s office and wistfully gazing into their meeting rooms where there were groups of people talking and belonging. I wanted to be part of that! Over the months, I realised that nothing was going to change until I changed With that in mind, I went on a voyage of discovery! I uncovered as many different types of networking groups as possible, coaching associations and did a lot of coffee. Some...

Transition In Business

Transition In Business

http://www.corporatecrossovers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Free_Tele_Call_Apr13.mp3 This podcast is all about one of my favourite subjects; transition. How do we understand what makes change so hard, and how do we make it easier? The thing I know about life and in business is that we are always facing change, so whether or not you are thinking of leaving your job to start up your own business, or you’ve made that transition already, or you are in your own business, then you are always going to be facing change. I talk about why change is inevitable, the seven stages of internal transition that we go through and three practical ways that you can use right now to start making change much more smooth, and to make it easy so that you start to look forward to it, as opposed to getting overwhelmed by it....
Do You Keep Your Customers Happy? Thrive! TV Tips

Do You Keep Your Customers Happy? Thrive! TV Tips

If we don’t have customers, we don’t have a business. I know that seems really obvious but think about this – do you treat your customers as if they were the most important thing in your business, or do you sometimes treat them as in interruption, an annoyance? Go on be honest – sometimes you may be too busy to give your customers the love and attention they deserve. Your Action: Consider how you would like to be treated if you were one of your customers? How would you like to be communicated to, how quickly would you like your emails answered, a phone call returned, or a package delivered. Really think about this from your customer’s perspective, and then write it down – create a ‘how I can delight my customers’ guidelines.
