Tom Jones. I have to admit I am a big Tom Jones fan.
I saw in 15 years ago in Las Vegas, two rows from the front – I was in heaven! Except when the security guards threatened to throw me out for dancing…but that’s another story, on another blog…..
Last night I saw him again in London. Massive venue and I was 100 metres from the front up in the gallery. Yet, last night’s show touched me much more.
Pondering this reaction today I realised it was because last night Tom performed from his heart. He was vulnerable, he shared his mistakes and concerns with us in the audience. He interacted, he showed us he was a human.
Whereas in Vegas he came on, performed and left. Don’t get me wrong, it was still an amazing experience but he was going through the motions – albeit at an incredible level!
It made me think about my work and my interactions with people. When I come from my heart and am truly present and in the moment, great stuff happens. But when I am just going through the motions, I always feel there is a bit missing.
Tell me – do you let your heart open up and be authentic, or have you been going through the motions recently?
